I love this house! It overlooks the old town square; sits opposite the 300 year old church and behind the even older Moorish castle and is at the heart of this historic old quarter. Step outside the front door into life in this fascinating town, step back in and relax in a comfortable and spacious house – and enjoy the wonderful views from the roof terrace over the square, the rooftops of the town and the countryside around El Hacho, the local mountain. The old town of Alora is still a pueblo blanco (white-walled village) with narrow whitewashed streets, steep slopes, churches, lemon trees, coffee shops and bars where people gather, and the old square is at the heart of this and the traditional Andalucian life it represents. Alora has a rich history and there are plenty of places to visit (see owner profile), though it also has a more modern quarter with reasonable and interesting shops and many bars and restaurants. So, everything you could want, really!
The roof terrace overlooks the church, the square and the rooftops of the town but also has stunning views of the countryside for miles around and of El Hacho, the mountain that overlooks the town. Most of the year in this part of Spain you will want to eat outdoors and there is a dining area on the terrace that comfortably sits 8 people and there is also a convenient kitchen and bathroom on the top floor. And, of course, the square is just outside the front door so you can just step outside into the heart of Andalucian life. Personally, I enjoy reading a book in the shaded viewpoint opposite the house or sitting with a beer in Oscars, the quiet bar at the far end of the square – see photos.
